Karen R. Schneider, 44, of Malvern, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008, at home after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

She was the beloved wife of Mark E. Schneider, with whom she shared 18 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Gloversville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Ivison D. and Janice M. Rowland, also of Malvern.

Karen graduated from Great Valley High School in 1981 and Penn State University in 1985.

Karen was employed as a Web application developer at Weston Solutions for the past 22 years.

A longtime member of Paoli Presbyterian Church, she served as a deacon and sang with the music team.

Over the past six years, Karen was the inspiration for, and was actively involved in, the Weston-sponsored “Fight From the Fairway,” a charity golf tournament supporting local breast cancer organizations.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Karen is survived by a son, Mark E. Schneider Jr.; and a daughter, Jane E. Schneider. She is also survived by her twin sister, Kathy Schneider and her husband, Chris, of Wagontown; her brother, David I. Rowland and his wife, Suzanne, of Jenkintown; and her sister, Susan R. Culp and her husband, Scott, of Plymouth Meeting; and many nieces and nephews.

A Life Celebration memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2, at Paoli Presbyterian Church, 225 S. Valley Road, Paoli.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either “Fight From the Fairway,” 1193 Pynchon Hall Road, West Chester PA 19382; or the “Schneider Children Education Fund,” c/o Malvern Federal Savings Bank, 100 W. King St., Malvern PA 19355.
